A campaign to complete our move to Fitzsimons. Our dream has come true! The COMITIS Crisis Center has moved from its home since 1981 at 17th Avenue and Del Mar Parkway to the newly redeveloped Fitzsimons Campus. A former U.S. Army barrack was renovated to meet the needs of COMITIS staff and clients. Square footage will grow from 5,500 sq. ft. to more than 23, 000 sq. ft., nearly quadrupling its current size! This will allow COMITIS to expand its programs and serve more clients. We are asking the community to contribute to the building and to the growth of COMITIS, helping to continue the dream of our mission. You can help by sponsoring the "Comitis Family" outdoor sculpture Following major lead HUD Grants through the City of Aurora, Arapahoe County, and the City of Centennial, and gifts from supporters, many companies also have generously contributed labor and materials to renovate the new building at Fitzsimons. But there is more to do. COMITIS needs approximately $250,000 to complete the vision. Funds are needed to pay for renovations, moving-related expenses, furnishings and to help with increased operational expenses. Local artist John Ferguson donated his time and creativity to create an outdoor sculpture entitled "The Comitis Family." It consists of five figures ranging from five to eight-feet-tall. It beautifully captures the mission of COMITIS that "No one needs to feel alone." It will welcome visitors and clients to the entrance of the new Fitzsimons location. Names of sponsors will be engraved in black on metal plates at the base of each piece, creating a permanent display of those who support COMITIS!
